Its only relatively recently I have seen infrared photography and I love it!  The post apocalyptic look you get when using a infrared filter for your camera and long shutter speeds is something I really like the look of.  The art of capturing invisible light images is quite difficult and my Canon 550D has a large IR (infrared) block filter which makes taking infrared photos near impossible but I am thinking about getting the IR filter removed because I want to be taking photos like these ones I have found on the web.

Walk About

On a recent walk I noticed a white bird flying with a grey heron.  It was a bit smaller then the grey yet not small enough to be a little egret and Great egrets are very seldom spotted in the UK..  I have never seen a egret in Britain before, I know they get them further south but I wasn't expecting to see one in Thirsk!  My photos a bit poor but they were flying a fair distance away and couldn't get any closer disappointingly.  A good spot never the less.

Halloween

Halloween is nearly here and I took a photo of myself in my mask for a fancy dress do we are going to using just candle light and a remote control then playing with the exposure and highlights.  Really like the shadowing on the contours of the mask...  Spooky :)

The overall winning photo this year "Homeless" by Hong Kong photographer Chan Kwok Hung is one of those photos that really cements the old saying that "A picture speaks a thousand words"  The two boys live with there Grandmother on a scrapyard in Kathmandu  Nepal..  A truly heart wrenching, thought provoking photograph.

Love this photo!  I have used this one on the front of my business cards.  I took it on our honeymoon in the Maldives.  The dark heart shaped leaf floating in the crystal blue water will always remind me of  a truly unforgettable experience my wife and I shared together.

These are a few shots taken on one of our walks around where we live.  I love the effect of over exposing some photos and really getting stuck in with the shadowing and the contrast.  I think the extreme colouring on the fungi and dandelion make for a more interesting and deeper photo.

Here's a few photos from a recent wedding I did.  I love the black and white ones, editing into monochrome really makes things stand out and clarifies the subjects mood and feelings.  The dawn photo I took the morning of my brothers wedding in Crake North Yorkshire, don't think I have ever seen a more stunning start to a day.
